COP28 received a lot of global attention, with significant participation from government agencies and private enterprises, underscoring the importance various sectors place on sustainability issues. As the first global stocktake since the Paris Agreement, the results indicate limited effectiveness in controlling global warming, necessitating accelerated efforts to meet carbon reduction targets. Climate change has significantly impacted human society and the environment, with warnings of resource scarcity becoming increasingly evident. Faced with escalating environmental challenges, global cooperation is imperative to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
2023 was a year with many challenges: inflation, extreme weather, unstable shipping schedule, grain commodity price fluctuations and market competition. We adapted to market changes, adjusted our operational strategies, and organized our workforce to overcome these obstacles and achieve our annual operational goals. Furthermore, our subsidiary, Charming Food, actively launches new products and enters the B2C channel. These products are now available in supermarkets and hypermarkets, as well as Korean fried chicken franchises and popular restaurant chains. At the same time, we also ventured into airline catering services, achieving remarkable results and marking our best performance since our establishment.
In smart manufacturing, we continued to update production machineries, optimized breeding platforms, and fine-tuned predictive systems for precise operations. We implemented an automated oil dispensing system for edible oil tanks and enhanced feed quality control, as well as implemented odor monitoring solutions to enhanced production quality and operational effectiveness. Furthermore, with our commitment to sustainability, we embraced the circular agricultural business model, replaced energy-intensive equipment, reduced carbon emissions, and conducted product verification for carbon and water footprints. In addition, we actively invested in talent development, aligning with various ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives as part of our journey towards becoming a green enterprise.
Besides expanding the scope of agri-food circular economy, we’re also dedicated in social charity events such as organizing "Taiwan-Japan Pet Workshop" and the "Cerear Table Tennis Tournament" and sponsor community events. In 2023, we were awarded with numerous recognitions for our efforts toward sustainable development: the "AREA Asia Corporate Social Responsibility Award," "APEA Asia-Pacific Outstanding Enterprise Award," "SGS Carbon Management Award," the “Outstanding Contribution Award for Low-Carbon Emissions in Taichung City," "1111 Human Resources Happiness Enterprise Gold Award," "Business Weekly Carbon Competitiveness Top 100 Award," and the "TCSA Corporate Sustainability Report".
Looking ahead, Fwusow Industry remains steadfast in its mission to provide safe and healthy food for all. We will persist in expanding our sustainable strategies, including circular economy initiatives, digital transformation, and achieving net-zero carbon emissions. We aspire to continue garnering support from consumers as we strive toward sustainable development.
