We gather the latest food-related domestic and international laws and regulations based on the requirements issued from the stakeholders, and relay the information to the relevant business units for implementation to ensure all food safety requirements are executed to meet and comply with international and local standards.
Fwusow Industry
As of December 2022, we adopted a total of 222 food product regulations, 196 domestic items (including 103 laboratory regulations) and 26 international regulations, covering 100% of all our food products.

Our laboratory has adopted 6 new regulations, mostly related to the relevant inspection methods released by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Recommended Sample Size Principles for Food Inspections.

The food technicians along with the Laboratory managers and the export team will evaluate the collection and identification of food-related laws and regulations at the monthly ISO Food Safety Implementation Committee meeting so the relevant business units can carry out the necessary revisions according to the changes in the standards.

In 2022, there were 12 meetings held.

Regarding domestic regulatory revisions, there were three important ones:
  1. Amendment to "Scope, Limitation, and Specification Standards for the Use of Food Additives," Article 4, Appendix 1 of Article 2 and Appendix 2 of Article 3, that nitrogen is to be managed as a food additive. We use nitrogen when packing dried bonito flakes to ensure product freshness. We have confirmed that the supplier is a legitimate food additive manufacturer with the proper license that meets relevant requirements.
  2. "No Ethylene Oxide Residue Shall Be Detected in Food and Its Raw Materials Manufactured and Processed in Taiwan," we do not use ethylene oxide in our production lines. However, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, we outsourced the inspection of 15 raw materials such as sesame, and no residue was detected in any of the outsourced inspection testing.
  3. Revision of "Sanitary Standards for Contaminants and Toxins in Foods," which regulates the use of glycerol esters of fatty acids in edible oils and fats and to be effective on January 1, 2024. After testing, we established in-house standards and inspection frequency, and in 2022, the test results for each batch of products were well below the regulatory standards.
